Questions

Home care questions, answered

Here are straight answers to the questions Hornsby families ask us most. Cannot see yours? Get in touch and we will happily talk it through.

Getting started and costs

  • How much does home care cost in Hornsby?

It depends on your funding. Many people pay little or nothing out of pocket using a Home Care Package or Support at Home. Private care has a clear hourly rate we quote upfront. You always get the costs in writing first.

  • Do you provide nurses or just carers?

Both, with a registered nurse leading the care. Carers handle daily support while a nurse oversees the plan and provides clinical care.

  • How quickly can care start?

Private care can often start within a few days. Package-funded care begins once your funding is ready. If you are in hospital now, we can plan ahead so support is waiting when you get home.

Funding and packages

  • What does a Home Care Package cover?

Usually nursing, personal care, help with daily living, some domestic help, equipment and transport, depending on your plan. We will go through exactly what applies to you.

  • What is Support at Home?

Support at Home is the Australian Government's home care program that is replacing Home Care Packages, bringing in-home support under one system. We can explain how it affects you and help you use your funding.

  • Do I need a package to get care?

No. You can pay privately and start whenever you like, with or without a package in place.

Our care

  • Will my parent have the same carers?

Wherever possible, yes. We build a small, consistent team around each client so the faces stay familiar.

  • Can you care for someone with dementia at home?

Yes. With nurse oversight and the right routines, many people with dementia live well at home. We also support the family and offer respite.

  • What areas do you cover?

All of Hornsby Shire, including Hornsby, Waitara, Wahroonga, Thornleigh, Pennant Hills, Normanhurst, Asquith, Mount Colah, Berowra, Cherrybrook and Beecroft. Get in touch to check your suburb.
